On the Chapel Hill raid

A note from a long time friend, resident of Chapel Hill:
The Occupy people have been operating harmoniously with the town for weeks. This is not, I think, about occupy, but a quite separate group of people who call themselves anarchists.
The Anarchists have been buzzing around town for months. They ‘stormed’ the building on Rosemary Street where one of the art galleries showing [another friend]‘s stuff did business. The Anarchists said they objected to the building, a pricey ‘green’ high-rise, because it displaced some black businesses and a black church. So they donned their balaclavas and rushed in, broke some furniture, terrorized the women working in the gallery, and escaped before the cops arrived. There have been several similar brushes, Anarchists vs.. Cops, in Chapel Hill. The Anarchists here are ugly; the Occupiers are, if anything, not edgy enough. But it’s all good here. I worry about Portland and New York and Oakland.
The pictures look pretty spooky. Unrecognizable humanoids with dark padded clothing, brandishing coptoys. Shades of Jerry Bruckmeyer cop shows? No. No shots fired, no mentionable injuries.
